We had early general elections in the Netherland after the fall of the government coalition being in power only one and a half year. It was a 4-party center/far-right coalition that from the start was an impossible adventure. The far-right populist anti-Islam party of Geert Wilders had won the elections with 37 of the 150 Parliament Seats on a total of 17 parties with seats in the Parliament. That general election also was an early election after the fall of Mark Rutte’s (the now general secretary of the NATO) collation government. All the other parties blocked Geert Wilders from being the Prime Minister (which is the due process when a party wins the elections) of the newly to be formed government. A solution was found through nominating an outsider as Prime Minister, with a government controlled by the 4 parties who formed the new coalition, inclusive Geert Wilders’ party. It was the farthest right coalition the Netherlands ever had and it created a terrible mess.
The results of these latest early general elections (the 29th of October) showed clearly that the political crisis is now complete. The D66 (Democrats 66) won 26 seats and Geert Wilders’ party won also 26 seats, but with slightly less total votes, which made D66 the largest and it’s 38 years old candidate the new Prime Minister. The Social Democrats, fused with the GreenLeft party got 20 seats, the Christian Democrats 18 and the traditional Center Party (VVD) 22. One party disappeared (went down from 20 seats to 0 seats), another quite rightwing party went from 1 to 9 seats and the rest lost seats or managed to hold those few they had.
This is a total new situation because never before the winning party had only 26 seats and all the old traditional parties are more and more loosing ground. The forming of a new government will become even more difficult if not impossible.
Most of the electorate does not know anymore which party to vote for and the mayority of voters swing from left to right to center in an ongoing hope that the next government will solve the growing crisis in the country. The housing crisis, the healthcare crisis, the environmental crisis, the immigration crisis, the energy crisis, etc. All of these crises directly felt by the general population and mostly by the poorer population and young generation.
None of the parties have told or tell the population where all these crises come from. As if they have fallen out of a blue sky. They do not want it to know how they have messed up. First with the Covid ‘pandemic’ and then with the Ukraine military conflict with Russia. They do not tell their voters the trut hand how the endless sanctions against Russia and the stop on buying Russian gas has produced an energy crisis of such big proportions that by now has doubled the costs of energy, food and all other things people need to buy. They did not and still do not explain that the ever-growing housing crisis is the consequence of 40 years of Neoliberalism and bad governing. To make it short, they never take responsibility for their political actions and they never listen to the voice of the citizens.
The end result of all this is that the country has become ungovernable. They will form a new 4 (or now 5) party coalition, but that one will also fall before the end of its 4-year mandate.
In the middle of this crisis these very mediocre politicians have decided that now we are in war with Russia, and the population has to prepare itself, using this new narrative to cover up their eager participation in a since 2005 US guided project in Ukraine to get NATO at the direct borders with Russia. Suddenly nearly every day the mainstream Dutch media visit or a military base where they are shown all those wonderful weapon arsenals that are there, or a NATO war exercise, or they interview military officals who then tell the public of the serious threat Russia has become. Even the royal family is now involved. The crown priness Amalia decided to serve a year in the military and queen Maxima participated in a war exercise, completely in military tenue and camouflage painted face helping the “wounded”.
The moral and political downfall is now complete, and the poor population drink up the war narrative. Many are fearful and preoccupied for something that will never happen. No Russians are coming, they never did. Nazi Germans came and occupied the country, Napoleon’s France came and occupied the country even putting Napolean’s brother as its king, but never Russia.
What can we still expect from a political elite that has made fantasy stories and outright lies their moral compass? And not just in the last few years. What can we expect from a political elite that is ruining the country day by day? Nothing! It is the final synthesis of the long historical process of a western civilization in the wrong direction. In my country and in the rest of Europe. And as history has taught us, civilizations rise, develop and then fall. In the meantime we should concentrate ourselves, our lives and our energy on making possible the rise of a new civilization like the Fenix rising from the ashes. And this time a planetary civilization, the civilization of the Universal Human Nation which will be the expression of a new and evolved humankind that will have left behind the prehistory of all violence and advanced into true Human History. This is the destiny of humankind. All what is happening is the clear signal of the end of an era, the end of a long cycle in the spiral of Time and the need for the emergence of a new one. That emergence must start in our hearts and minds and then express itself in the world through actions in which all will recognize the same thing: that I exist because you exist and that the human being is the highest value and its wellbeing our highest priority.
