China has expressed strong concern over military strikes against Iran launched by the United States and Israel, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry said on Saturday, calling for an immediate halt to all military actions.
On Sunday, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran during ongoing U.S.–Iran negotiations amounted to a “blatant killing of a sovereign leader.” He added that attempts to incite regime change were “unacceptable” and stressed that Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity must be respected, according to China’s state news agency Xinhua.
Also on Sunday, China’s embassy in Israel issued a notice advising Chinese citizens to move to safer areas within the country as soon as possible or to leave Israel via the Taba border crossing into Egypt.
