New Zealand kept their semi-final hopes alive in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a thrilling 6-wicket victory over Scotland. Powered by Izzy Sharp’s brilliant maiden international T20 half-century and her century-stand with Brooke Halliday, the White Ferns pulled off a crucial win. Meanwhile, this third defeat in the tournament shatters Scotland’s dreams of reaching the final four.
Earlier, after being put into bat at the County Ground in Bristol, Scotland posted a competitive total of 131 for 7 in their allotted 20 hours. Opener Darcey Carter anchored the innings with a responsible, unbeaten 72, while Sarah Bryce contributed the second-highest score of 25.
Amelia Kerr led the Kiwi bowling attack with an exceptional spell, picking up 3 wickets for just 17 runs in her 4 overs. Captain Sophie Devine claimed 2 wickets, while Lea Tahuhu took a single wicket, achieving the historic milestone of 100 wickets in international T20s.
The Sharp-Halliday Resurgence
Chasing a target of 132, New Zealand endured a nightmare start, finding themselves in deep trouble at 26 for 3 within the Powerplay. The quick dismissals of top-order batters skipper Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, and Isabella Gaze temporarily handed complete control of the match to Scotland.
