Standing toghether campaign for a Peace Map

Across the country, Standing Together activists are engaging in deep canvassing, holding conversations with people from every background – rural, urban, secular, religious, of all ages and orientations – including many who come convinced they disagree with us. So we ask questions and hold honest conversations about what it means to fight for a different future on this land.

Deep canvassing is a proven organizing method used by movements around the world; it played a major role in building public support for marriage equality in the United States. And we’re using the approach to grow more and more grassroots power for peace.

The conversations we hold often end similarly: people express their desire for an alternative to endless violence and war, but are convinced there’s no other option.

The majority of people on this land, Jewish and Palestinian, want to live in safety, dignity, and peace. But most don’t realize that they’re part of the majority.

We developed a “Peace Map,” an interactive tool through which everyone who believes in peace and is engaged with the campaign can make themselves visible through a pin. We want to show and reassure that peace is a shared interest and fill the map with pins all over the country.

Today, almost 10 “peace booths” are active in communities across the country, with some 10 volunteers at each booth speaking with hundreds of people every week. Soon, we’ll also begin sharing these conversations online.
