We won’t give up.
Am I crazy? Sure, but above all, I’m nonviolent in a deep and radical way.
A year ago, I was seating on the ground in front of the Senate in Rome with fellow italian activists from Ultima Generazione (Last Generation). We were immediately surrounded by law enforcement. We counted them: about forty people in uniform, who were soon joined by two people in plain clothes – two officers.
We were there to protest. To demand for the genocide in Palestine to be recognized. In Gaza, the Global Sumud Flotilla was about to break Israel’s criminal siege. We asked for diplomatic protection to be provided for the Italians on board who had been seized in international waters by the IDF.
I told the officer that it wasn’t right to take us to the police station, because among us were three women who had been on a hunger strike for days, and they had already been detained, loaded into vehicles, and taken away three times, as if we were a threat to public order. I also told law enforcement that I weighed 100 kg, around 220 pounds. Despite everything, after an hour they forcefully loaded us into patrol cars to take us to the police station and put us in two cells, where we remained for about four hours. On October 4, 2025 millions of people took to the streets in a pre-announced demonstration. An ocean of hope and humanity calling for an end to the genocide. I remember those moments with both joy and sorrow.

The joy of standing on the side of humanity and of living, active, real and nonviolent hope. The sorrow for the genocide that had not been stopped. Then, with the farce of peace, they managed to silence the bombs and the hunger that continue to claim innocent victims. The day was October 10, 2025, when they spoke of peace while preparing other monstrous attacks, leaving two million people with nowhere to go to suffer in agony. The complicity of Western institutions did not vanish in shame, but it disappeared from the media.
We are preparing for another wave with the Global Sumud Flotilla. We won’t give up.
I am a nonviolent and I know full well that this is a high-risk nonviolent mission. I cannot look the other way. We are against all wars, but we expect nothing from complicit and corrupt governments.
There is no contradiction here, the power of nonviolence can turn the tables and open a window of peace for the whole world. We won’t give up.
