In 2024, SIPRI and its partner BUCOFORE carried out research showing that refugee women and girls in the Chad–Sudan border region face considerable threats to their safety, and existing protection measures are inadequate. The research also found that humanitarian funding in Chad remains insufficient to match the scale of need.
